Dhoulmagus is finally revealed to be a pawn of Rhapthorne, a demonic lord and the sport's true antagonist, who's manipulating the jester in an attempt to free himself from the scepter inside of which he has been imprisoned. Medea was remodeled right into a horse by Dhoulmagus and has a romantic interest within the Hero. Two non-player characters journey with the protagonists: Trode, the titular cursed king who rules over Trodain but was transformed right into a toad-like creature by Dhoulmagus; and Medea, Trode's daughter, who is identical age as the Hero.
